TO SAVE THE FIVE BULGARIAN NURSES AND THE PALESTINIAN DOCTOR
CONDEMNED TO DEATH
The tragedy that is the death verdict of the Benghazi Six in Libya united three of the leading media in Bulgaria to start the media campaign “You Are NOT Alone”.
The newspaper “Standart”, national television channel “BTV” and national broadcast radio “Darik” have joined together to appeal to all Bulgarians in Bulgaria, the European Union and the United States to be active in their deeds and to show our empathy to the fate of the Benghazi Six.
As a symbol of the campaign “Standart” will print a ribbon in the three colors of the Bulgarian flag and the message “You are not Alone” embedded on its ends in English and Bulgarian. This ribbon will be distributed to all Bulgarian citizens in the days leading to the New Year’s Eve.
In four consecutive issues of “Standart” (December 27-30th, 2006) the ribbon will be distritued togeth with the paper. The ribbon will be sent to all our compatriots around the world though the Bulgairan embassies, missions and communities.
On New Year’s Eve let us all wear the ribbon close to our hearts as a symbol of our support.
As New Year’s Eve closes upon us, Bulgaria will be in the international spotlight with the celebrations marking the accession to the EU. Let us use this time wisely and through the ribbon show our support for the Benghazi Six and the fact that as citizens we are not indifferent to their fate.
